Art and Inspiration with Jayime Jean!

Hi Jayime! Great to speak with you today!

What have you been working on lately?

I've been working on three collections for an upcoming show I have in December! The Colors that Surround you, Unlocking of a Dream, and Gold Hearted Goddess are the names of the Collections.

When was the first time you recall thinking that you wanted to pursue art as your career?

I have to say I never really thought of myself as a painting visual artist, Artist for sure, but a painter never ran through my mind. I feel honored to been given a gift of light from the divine that seems to be the true reason I started seeing my paintings as something I can do, not just as a healing therapy for myself, but sharing them might also be a way to help other heal, and thats what really made me start believing there was something there.

What is your favorite painting/ project/ collection you've created and why?

Gold Hearted Goddess I absolutely am in love with...All the LOVE surrounding it, the emotions I put into painting them, the GOLD leaf i used trying to find the quality to let their light shine....they all tell a story of a lost love from the past trying to recover and make their way back to each other, its a beautiful burden I'd say.

Who are some of the artists currently inspiring you? As far as artists who inspire me, I really get my inspirations from visions, dreams, people or memories, music artists with their lyrics that seem to pull out every emotion. I'd say Stevie Nicks by far is responsible for many of my paintings. I can put on her music and paint for hours, cry, laugh, dance, cry some more....Then Peter Murphy, The Cure, Sia, Madonna, Pink, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Alex Henry Foster, The sisters of Mercy, Tracy Chapman, Radio Head, Talking Heads, Tool, I mean the list goes on.....That's what truly inspires me.

What are you hoping to see in the art world as it continues to evolve? Art is something else. It's alive, and meaningful and moving...I just hope to see more truth in art, real passion, emotions. Art heals, so more art therapy!

Please let everyone know how they can keep up with you and your amazing work! You can catch me making silly videos almost everyday in my home studio I call Mouse Cat Park, on instagram @jayimejeanart or TikTok @jayimejean. I love to share the moments behind the paintings, keep it real....

Thank you for your time!

Thanks so truly, JJ
