MORE MUSIC WITH TREVOR JAMES

Trevor James is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter from the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania.

Trevor’s first EP “Breakthrough” was recorded entirely in his makeshift bedroom studio and was released in late-2020. One track from that EP (“Rendezvous”) then went on to feature on local radio station 97.9x Rocks, as well as popular Philly station Alt 104.5, where Trevor was also interviewed and performed live.

Trevor released his much anticipated single "Again" in June 2022, followed by "Comfort" in August 2022 - both of which he performed on the Wish USA bus in Hollywood that same month. Look out for more big things to come from Trevor later this year!

What stands out to you as being the piece of music that has changed the game for the industry?

Hmm this is a tough question! I don't know if I can pinpoint just one specific piece that has stood out to me as changing the game for the industry because music, like art in general, is just constantly evolving. We saw it with Elvis, and The Beatles, and stars like Michael Jackson bringing their own styles to the forefront. And then even just in the past couple of decades we've seen songs on the Billboard Hot 100 charts move further away from full-band actual instrument sounds and instead shifting to songs composed electronically with MIDI drums, synth, etc. The digital renaissance we've seen does make me wonder if we'll ever get back to seeing the charts dominated by those full-band actual instrument sounds again or if that'll become more and more a thing of the past. You are a game changer yourself... How do you want to change the game with YOUR music?

Well I would love to change the game with my music by breaking into the mainstream music scene with my own style - not just my own musical style (i.e. the actual sounds of my songs) but also in the positive and clean lyrics I try to write. I would love to help contribute towards influencing the younger generations in a positive way, making it "cool" to be good instead of glorifying activity that most of us would recognize as objectively negative or wrong. How are you putting together your next project?

That's confidential information ;) totally kidding - To put together my next project, I'm actually working on selecting which of my upcoming original songs I want to include in my next project which will be an EP.. currently trying to narrow down a solid selection of songs that each bring something different to the EP, so it's been both tricky and fun lol. Who are you collaborating with?

For this upcoming EP I'll be collaborating with a producer named Vanessa Silberman who's worked with some pretty big names in the industry and is actually a super talented artist herself. It's the first project we're working on together so I'm pretty excited to see what's going to come out of it. Who are you giving credit to when it comes to how this upcoming music is being made?

Well I'll definitely have to give credit to Vanessa who I mentioned above, since she'll be playing a big role in the overall sound of my upcoming music with her production skills. But aside from her, I'd have to give credit to the people in my own life who've helped contribute towards the experiences that serve as catalysts for the ideas & themes of my songs. Biggest lesson so far this year that you are taking into this summer?!

The biggest lesson I've learned this year is to not shy away from but instead embrace the things that make you unique as an artist.. and really lean into that. Not only can this help aspiring artists to stand out in an incredibly talented & competitive field, but it also reinforces the importance of staying true to yourself and feeling comfortable in your own skin. What is something EPIC you're doing this upcoming year to contribute to your art?

Something EPIC I'll be doing a lot of this upcoming year to contribute to my music is playing and performing live way more frequently! It's something I've admittedly neglected to do as much of in the past as I probably should have, but after this upcoming EP is released I'll be looking forward to promoting the songs to new audiences and potential fans anywhere I can - whether that means tours, festivals, smaller venues, or even open mics.. no opportunity is too small. You are just EPIC! Give us everything we need to keep up!

Thank you! The best ways to keep up with me are to follow my Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/trevorjamesmusic), my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/trevorjamesmusic), and my Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/artist/1x8HWm0ZrT9qrUpA8HYbgv). Leave our audience a word or phrase on how they could live their best lives too!

The phrase (or phrases) I'll leave the audience on how to help everyone live their best life - "Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

Fun fact about my music: Every song I've released up to this point has been recorded in a bedroom. Sometimes a closet, other times just a corner of the room lol and I anticipate this to be the case with my upcoming music as well.
