SINGING ALONG TO JOSH STEPHENS 'WHO TAUGHT YOU'

We can't wait for you to get to read what the remarkable Singer/ Songwriter Josh Stephens has to say about his latest single 'Who Taught You', accomplishments made and the piece of history he got to be a part of while recording!

Hi Josh!! Thank you for being a part of this interview!! Any new projects in the works you can talk about?!

Yes! I just released a new song on January 8th called Who Taught You. It’s a fun upbeat song that you can dance to, and hopefully makes you feel something. I wrote it with my good friend Nicole Miller and producer Zack Page, who are both great at what they do. I wanted to release a song that everyone could just really enjoy and enable them to let go in the midst of everything going on in the world right now, and I think we did that. I also plan on releasing several new singles in the upcoming months, so stay tuned!

How did your career change in the last year that you’re grateful for coming into 2021?

Well, firstly I graduated college so now my parents are happy, and I am doing music full time! However, 2020 obviously changed so many industries, especially music since a large part of music is live shows, which could not really happen anymore. However, the only nice part about it for artists is that we had a lot of time to write new music, which you can do anywhere and do not need much other than yourself. So like I said, lots of new music on the way, which I am grateful for! I will say though that writing songs, just like anything else, works much better when you are able to really “show up” if you know what I mean, and during 2020 there were many times for myself as well as many others I’m sure, when that was hard to do. So while this last year was clearly hard for everyone, I think it also made us very strong and really highlighted how important connection is. We are not designed to be alone. Definitely grateful for the start of a new year!

What was the last milestone you’ve hit in your career?

The first thing that comes to mind is when I got the chance to record my single called Runaway from a couple years back in Nashville’s Ocean Way Studio. It is a really incredible building with a lot of history. It was a beautiful church until the 90’s, when it became a recording studio. So many amazing artists such as Blake Shelton, Lionel Richie, Beyoncé, Keith Urban, and so many more have recorded there. It was a really cool experience. In the main studio room, the stained glass windows from the old church are still there, which provides a unique and gorgeous space to make music in.

What’s a resolution that you've made when it comes to your music?

To not be afraid to try new things and not wait until I think something is perfect to play it or release it. Fear of judgment is the death of creativity. Every artist faces that, and it’s something that you have to eventually get over in order to be your best self. It is something that I am definitely still working on.
