Talking Music Inspiration with Joey Stuckey!
Hi Joey! It is great to have you here today!
Great to be here!
What was your first CD?
I am an eclectic soul so I remember going to the local record store and buying 5 CD’s after I got my first CD player for Christmas.
Three Beatles CDs—“With the Beatles”, “Harday’s Night” and “Please Please Me”. I also bought a recording of “Ina Clina Nachtmusik” (can’t remember which orchestra it was) and “Star Flight One” which was a Hearts Of Space sampler!
What song do you have to sing along with when you hear it?
“My Shot” from Hamilton!
If you could do a duet, with anyone, living or not, who would it be?
Man I don’t know! Probably Cyndi Lauper or Dolly Parton or Katharina Franck of the Rainbirds.
But, give me more time and I am sure I could come up with more!
Actually, come to think about it, Cyndi Lauper might not be as impossible as it sounds—we are both featured in a book called “88 More Ways Music Can Change Your Life”, so maybe she’ll read my story and find me on Twitter.
Do you have any hidden talents?
Not really, I use all the talent I have to be a small business owner in the music industry.
If you twist my arm I do a few impressions!
When do you feel most creative?
When I am surrounded by life. That can be at the beach with the ocean or in the city with people and the music of people and vehicles in motion—like London or NYC or Chicago—or in my backyard with the amazing little birds that sing in the trees!
What is inspiring you right now?
I am totally obsessed with Lana Del Rey’s new album and the song “White Dress”. I also am really digin’ those birds in my backyard I mentioned above. I don’t know what it is, maybe just good fortune, but since I have lived in my home in Macon, GA, I have had the most amazing cast of characters in my backyard just singing their hearts out!
Please let our readers know where to find you!
Thank you for your time!
