WHAT'S NEXT WITH THE LOVE ROBOTS

The Love Robots are a New Jersey-based, alternative group formed by Jon Vick and Charley Ruegger in 2019 (formerly The Stereo Police; 2005 to 2010).

After producing a handful of originals, Jon and Charley looked for a melodic, reliable bassist and energetic drummer. During quarantine in 2020, they recruited Will Donaway on bass and Ross Medine on drums. Their melodic and driving sound is the unique compromise between four different backgrounds and tastes in music; from Metallica to Coldplay, from the Allman Brothers to Radiohead.

Charley Ruegger - Rhythm Guitar/Vocals

Charley is a melodious, chord-factory who will surround you in a warm blanket of sound before cutting you in half with his self-deprecating humor.

Jon Vick - Lead Guitar/Amateur Audio Engineer

With golden locks the length of an NYC block, Jon is a mad scientist of sonic magic. Jon can be heard snapping through guitar strings, bloody-knuckled, on the hour of every hour.

Will Donaway - Bass Guitar

Will is the pocket master bringing up the low end. In his free time he enjoys getting things off of high shelves for the rest of the band.

Ross Medine - Drums

Part sledgehammer and part metronome, Ross has been known to break full drum sets during shows. He became a fireman simply to put out his own fires from how hot his beats are.

How do you plan to top your new music? We've been growing our songwriting skills for years, but it's only recently that we've become melded creatively as a band with each person contributing. In particular, it feels like we're doing more with song dynamics these days as the band pushes its creative limits (more with less!) At some point, we plan on introducing some new instrumentation and vocal arrangements. Current obsession with your music? We've been falling into an unhealthy obsession with older 70s and 80s hard rock, even more than usual, which is already a lot haha! It's a delicious piece of candy that we can't resist eating when we're mid-practice. We have a feeling that you're going to see that influence come through in our newer songs. Current obsession outside of music? Jon is obsessed with science, technology, cooking, and wildlife. Ross is obsessed with locomotives, fire trucks, snowboarding, and animals. Charley is obsessed with cars, snowboarding, trail running, martinis, and his family. Will is obsessed with craft beer, skiing, biking, and running. Any predictions one year from now? It will be cold outside, but not too cold! In all seriousness, we predict that the band will be wrapping up recording and making plans for the release of album 2, attaining a much bigger following, and at the precipice of planning a national tour. Hey, maybe we'll even be looking at some record labels to partner with? What do you love to do on your days off when you want to unplug from music? To be honest, we almost always find ourselves plugged into music in one form or another, but we like drinking beers, playing with pets, playing video games, grilling, spending time with family, and building things. One common theme across the four of us is that we're rarely ever at rest and tend to gravitate towards activities that feed our imaginations. Anything you're reflecting on from this past year? We think the biggest one is how much of a family and sense of community the band has created and how much progress we've made in such a short amount of time. This band was really a COVID baby. In 2021, we played one gig for friends and family, and by the end of 2022, we had played about 20 gigs and were able to finish our first album. It's been a lot of work, but it's so rewarding to look back and dream of what's to come. How do we continue to support you? Keep listening to our music on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and all the other music streaming platforms! Check us out at https://theloverobots.com/ and on Instagram at @realloverobots (https://www.instagram.com/realloverobots/) We promise to keep up our part of the bargain and continue to write more songs and play more shows. Next time we're out-and-about, come say hello and have a beer with us; we'd love to meet you!
